Tajima Creative Staff V2.0

Art Expressing Life - Honoring the Voices and Visions of Women

Women Beyond Borders, with support from Tajima Creative, is pleased to be presenting this dynamic exhibition, highlighting the personal stories of prominent national and regional women at a series of events around the country. To express these stories in art, the project pairs women like California Senator Barbara Boxer, restaurateur and author Alice Waters, Barclays CEO (and former Washington Mutual President) Deanna Oppenheimer and others with established artists working in a range of media. The resulting pieces are both intensely personal and richly intriguing.

Women Beyond Borders unites women around the world in a celebration of free expression, creative inspiration and individual truths. Working with founder Lorraine Serena on the occasion of WBB's tenth anniversary, Tajima Creative's Elaine Tajima developed the concept of pairing artists with prominent community and business leaders. Tajima Creative is also designing and curating the exhibition, which will be seen at events around the country beginning in October, 2006.

Below are some of the works featured in the exhibit – each of which begins with an unadorned wooden box, 2 inches by 2 inches by 3 inches that is then transformed by the artist. If you're interested in the pieces, please check back often – new works are being added regularly.
